"Option cannot be selected, it has been locked" error in Jira automation

Platform Notice: Cloud Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.

Summary

The following error is encountered in the Jira Automation Audit log:

"Option cannot be selected, it has been locked from assigning to issues"

This error typically occurs while creating or cloning a Jira work item using Jira Cloud Automation. Specifically, when trying to set or copy the 'Account' field from the TimeSheets by Tempo application.

Solution

Link the Tempo account to the relevant Jira project

This error appears when the Tempo Account is not linked to the project where the work item is being created or cloned.

There are two potential solutions to address this problem:

  1. Make the Account Global

    • This option allows the account to be used across all projects

  2. Link the Account to the Specific Project

    • This option associates the account specifically with the project where the work item is being created or cloned

To apply either of these solutions, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the top navigation bar in Jira Cloud and select Apps

  2. Select Tempo from the dropdown menu

  3. In the right side panel, select Accounts

  4. Locate and select the relevant account

    • Within the account settings, you will find options to either link the account to a specific project or make it global

  5. Select the option that best suits your needs

If you have any questions or encounter any issues related to the Tempo app, it is recommended to reach out to Tempo Software through their support portal here.
