Opened change request doesn't change status to Implementing when deployment is in progress

Summary

With change management deployment integration configured with Github, the status of the Jira ticket doesn't change to Implementing when the deployment is in progress as per the configuration.

Environment

Jira Service Management Cloud

Cause

Use deployment gating with GitHub has instructions to set this up. However, there are times when this doesn't work as it needs some additional configuration.

Solution

You would need to enable the preset rule available When a change management request is created → then update change type and risk from the Change Management template library.

Once, done the status would be mapped as expected
