JSM/OpsGenie: How to disable OpsGenie responder alerts

Summary

When an incident is raised, people and teams can be added to the incident as responders so that they can work to resolve it.

When an issue is created in a service project and the Responder Alert incident management feature is enabled alerts are automatically created in OpsGenie which in turn notify the responders according to their alert's routing rules, escalation policies & notification preferences.

In some use cases, you might need to prevent those alerts from being created and still benefit from the remaining Jira Service Management Incident Management features.

Solution

  • In Project Settings > Incident Management > Scroll down to the Responder alerts section.

  • Switch the toggle off to disable automatic alert creation. This setting prevents alerts from being triggered automatically, such as when incidents are created or when assignees are added as responders.
