Jira server functionality fails with ClassNotFoundException for Jira Suite Utilities plugin

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Symptoms

General functionality like creating/updating tickets fails. Errors are thrown in the logs like:

1 2 2010-01-28 23:34:06,911 http-10.10.10.31-80-Processor21 ERROR [com.opensymphony.workflow.TypeResolver] Could not load class 'com.googlecode.jsu.workflow.validator.FieldsRequiredValidator' java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.googlecode.jsu.workflow.validator.FieldsRequiredValidator

Cause

This is due to the JIRA Suite Utilities plugin.

  • Possibly the JSU app license has expired.

Resolution

If this has happened after a JIRA upgrade, you may need to install the JIRA Suite Utilities plugin. For more information on JIRA Suite Utilities plugin, please refer to its page in the plugin exchange.
