Jira and Jira Service Management Cloud DMARC settings
Platform Notice: Cloud Only - This article only applies to Atlassian apps on the cloud platform.
Summary
Jira and Jira Service Management DMARC settings are managed separately.
Solution
Jira - DMARC settings
You must be a Jira site admin to manage DMARC settings. To enable or disable DMARC:
From your top navigation, go to Settings > System > Incoming Mail.
Under DMARC incoming email authentication select Enable or Disable.
This setting only applies to Jira projects using the default email account.
Jira Service Management - DMARC settings
You must be a Jira site admin to manage DMARC settings. To enable or disable DMARC:
From your top navigation, go to Settings > Products > Jira Service Management > Email requests. Note: Using a custom email address instead of the Atlassian-provided one provides more control over DMARC handling and may allow for adjustments when sender domains are not compliant.
Under DMARC incoming email authentication select Enable or Disable.
DMARC will override allowlists. For Atlassian-provided email addresses used in Jira Service Management, DMARC validation is enforced and cannot be disabled, even if allowlist settings are configured. If an email fails DMARC checks, it will be blocked regardless of allowlist settings.
Forwarded emails often fail DMARC validation because they originate from an intermediate server that does not match the sender's domain authentication records (e.g., SPF or DKIM). To resolve this, we recommend either sending emails directly to the Atlassian email address or using a custom email address to bypass strict DMARC enforcement.
