Is it safe to delete a Jira workflow if statuses are reused elsewhere?

Summary

You're looking to delete an inactive workflow, but are concerned that deleting the workflow will affect included statuses which have been used in another workflow.

Solution

Deleting a workflow won't deleted "shared" statuses

When you delete an inactive workflow in Jira, the statuses associated with that workflow are not automatically deleted if they are being used by other workflows.

For example, if a status like "In Review" is part of both an inactive workflow and an active workflow, deleting the inactive workflow will not remove the "In Review" status from the active workflow. The status will remain in use as long as it is associated with any active workflows or issues.

In summary, deleting an inactive workflow will not affect the statuses in active workflows that share the same statuses.
