Problem

After upgrading your Jira, your icons appears to be oversized and huge.

Causes

  1. During the upgrade, the Jira Feature Keys plugin was disabled.

  2. JIRA Software Application is not upgraded, Check under ⚙ >Applications>Versions and licenses.

  3. The plugin cache as well as the local browser cache has become invalid during the upgrade

Resolution

For Cause 1

The Jira Feature Keys is a system plugin, that comes bundled with Jira. To resolve this, you will need to enable the Jira Feature Keys plugin by following the steps provided below.

  • Go to the page ⚙ > Add-ons > Manage Add-ons

  • Choose all add-ons in the drop down menu and look for Jira Feature Keys

  • Try to enable this add-on, and check if the issue is resolved

For Cause 2

  • Update the JIRA Software application either by using installer or obr file from marketplace

For Cause 3

To fix this issue you will need to clear the Jira plugin cache. Additionally all users will need to clear their browser cache.

For the plugin cache:

  • Stop the JIRA instance

  • Delete JIRA_HOME/plugins/.bundled-plugins and JIRA_HOME/plugins/.osgi-plugins (⚠️ just these two folders!)

  • Restart JIRA

Each user will need to clear his browser cache to remove any stored icon files.
