Epics are missing in Epic panel on Team managed project board

Summary
When viewing the Epic Panel on a team-managed software project board, not all epics in the project are displayed.
Diagnosis
You've already confirmed that the Epic Panel in the Backlog displays all the Epics in the Project. The Epics are only missing on the Board view.
Cause
An Epic will only be displayed under the Epic panel of a Board if at least one of its child work items is already displayed on the board.
Newly created issues are placed in the Backlog of a Team-managed project board irrespective of their status.

Solution
To view your Epics on the Epic panel of the board, ensure that the Epics:
Have child work items associated
AND
At least one of the child work items (for each epic) is available on the Board
You can achieve this by dragging and dropping the child work items from the Backlog to the Board.
