Summary

Learn how to activate and disable voting functionality in Jira Data Center.

Solution

Jira Data Center provides a built-in voting feature that allows users to indicate their interest or prioritize issues. This functionality is accessible via the "Add Vote" option located in the More menu on each issue.

You must have Jira Administrator permissions to modify this setting.

Steps to Enable or Disable Voting

  1. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner to open the Administration menu.

  2. Select System from the dropdown.

  3. In the left sidebar, under the SYSTEM section, click General Configuration.

  4. On the General Configuration page, click the Edit Settings button.

  5. In the Options section, locate the toggle for the voting feature and adjust it as needed.

  6. After making your selection, scroll down and click on the Update button to save your changes.

Once you enable or disable the voting functionality using the mentioned steps, this setting will be applied to all projects and issues within your Jira instance, as it is a global configuration. If you possess a test instance, it is advisable to conduct this on that instance prior to implementing it in the production environment. Depending on your settings, users will either have the option to vote on issues or will not see this option.
