Disable team-managed projects in Jira cloud

Summary

Learn how to stop new team-managed spaces from being created in Jira Cloud by removing a single global permission.

Solution

Remove "Create team-managed spaces" global permission

1. Go to Settings > System.

2. Select Global permissions under Security in the navigation sidebar.

3. Scroll to the Create team-managed spaces global permission.

4. Remove any unwanted groups or users from this permission.

Note: People with the Administer Jira global permission can always create team-managed spaces, even when all other access to the Create team-managed spaces permission is removed. Removing this permission does not delete existing team-managed spaces, it only prevents new ones from being created.
