Copying an existing notification scheme and associating it with a project
Platform Notice: Cloud Only - This article only applies to Atlassian apps on the cloud platform.
Summary
You may need to make changes to a project's notification scheme. By default, Jira projects share the same "Default Notification Scheme." This means that if you make changes to a project's notifications, these changes will impact all projects on your site.
This article provides steps on how to copy a notification scheme (so you don't have to create a new one from scratch) and associate it with a project. This allows you to customize a project's notifications without impacting all projects in Jira.
Solution
Copy a notification scheme
Select Settings > Work items.
Select Notification schemes.
Search for the notification scheme that you would like to use and select the copy.
Associate a notification scheme with a project
Now that the scheme is copied, associate it with the project:
On the relevant project, go to Project settings.
Select Notifications, then:
Internal notifications for service projects
Settings for software/business projects
Click Actions > Use a different scheme.
Search for the scheme that you just copied.
Associate it with the project.
To edit the new scheme, just go to Actions > Edit. You can now edit the notification scheme used in your project without it impacting other projects.
To see all available events, recipients, and overall details on how to configure a notification scheme, check out Configure notification schemes.
