Confluence page link does not show up in Jira Issue

Platform Notice: Cloud Only - This article only applies to Atlassian apps on the cloud platform.

Summary

In some cases, Confluence page links don't appear in a Jira issue's "Confluence content" section, even though the issue is added to the Confluence page using a Jira issue macro.

Cause

When the Jira issue was initially linked, it was done via a Jira issue macro on the Confluence page. If the user who performed these actions did not have the Link Issues permission in target Jira project, a reciprocal link won't be created.

Now, the Confluence page shows a Jira issue was added to the page. But opening the Jira issue does not show the related Confluence page.

A user with the proper Link issues permission should edit the existing Confluence page to remove and re-add the Jira issue macro to see if this clears up the problem.

  1. Edit the Confluence page where the link should appear

  2. Remove the issue link from the page

  3. Re-add the Jira issue macro and publish the page

This should create links on both Jira and Confluence as appropriate.
