Cannot Start JIRA with -X Option

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Symptoms
JIRA fails to start-up due to the following error:

Unrecognized option: -X...
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
ℹ️ Following -X will be an additional name, depending on the configuration.
Cause
The Sun JVM does not recognize -X extended option, therefore JIRA does not startup successfully.
Resolution
Remove -Xmanagement parameter setting in CATALINA_OPTS or JAVA_OPTS. See Setting Properties and Options on Startup for instructions.
