Cannot see transition names when transitioning Jira issues

Summary
Transition names may not display on the issue view status dropdown, depending on which transitions are available for the work item's current status.
Solution
Global transitions won't display transition names if they are the only transitions available
In a Jira workflow, when an work item status has the "Allow all statuses to transition to this one" box checked, this is considered a global transition.
When the only available transitions are global transitions, then the name of the transitions won’t be displayed. Only the destination status label will appear.
To display transition names, you'll need to have at least one available non-global transition for the status.

To confirm which transitions apply, open the workflow for the work item's space and check the transitions defined for the work item's current status. If every transition into that status uses the "Allow all statuses to transition to this one" option (global transitions), the work item view will show only destination status labels, this is expected behavior. Adding at least one transition that is not marked "Allow all statuses to transition to this one" restores the transition-name display.
Note: If the non-global transition you add has workflow conditions, it will only appear for users who meet those conditions. A user who does not meet the conditions will still see only global transitions (and therefore only destination status labels).
