Authorization error seen when using Jira Cloud for Google Sheets addon - Error 400: admin_policy_enforced

Summary

When a user tries to export a list of issues in a Google sheet via Jira Cloud for Google sheet add-on, during the auth process they get the below error

1 Error 400: admin_policy_enforced 

Environment

Integration Between:

  1. Jira Cloud

  2. Google Sheets

Diagnosis

  • Error snippet seen in Google sheets:

Cause

The Error 400: admin_policy_enforced means that your organization doesn't allow Jira Cloud to access Google data.

Solution

If you received this error message, have an administrator of your Google Workspace account follow the instructions in this article from Google's help center: Control which third-party & internal apps access Google Workspace data.

Steps:

  1. Log in to the Google Admin console.

  2. From the Home page, go to   Security  API controls.

  3. Under App access control, click MANAGE THIRD-PARTY APP ACCESS.

  4. Add a filter to find the Jira app in the list. Enter "Jira" in the Contains field, and click APPLY.

  5. Check the box for Jira and click Change Access

  6. Choose the Trusted option to allow access to all Google services.

  7. Click CHANGE.
