Unable to see issues for a quick filter set up on the Board

Steps to take, if you are experiencing this problem
The first step would be to check using the JQL used for the filter to see if the issues are returning through the Advanced search ( Issue navigator).
If you can see the issues using JQL, then look at the status of the issues returned- Are they Done and older than 2 weeks?
Time to look at the board settings, to see if you have a setting to hide completed issues older than 2 weeks in the board.
Solution
The board had the setting to hide completed issues older than 2 weeks. You can find this option under Board settings > General.
