Environment

Jira Cloud

Diagnosis

You see a message "You can't move this issue to this column due to workflow configurations or permissions." when attempting to move work to a different column on the board.

Cause

The status is missing from the workflow of the issue.

Solution

  1. Create a copy of the "Workflow" for the project where you are unable to move the issue.

  2. Add the missing status to the workflow and ensure it is mapped correctly in the column of the board.

  3. Incorporate this updated workflow into the workflow scheme used by the affected project, then publish it.

  4. Following these steps will enable you to transition issues to that specific status successfully.
