What users automatically get added to Sprint Team Member list in Jira Align

Summary

This article provides information on all the conditions that would cause users to be added/removed automatically from the Enterprise Insights (EI) table [Sprint Team Member] list in Jira Align.

Solution

There is no specific logic for the EI table [Sprint Team Member], as this EI table only reflects the Sprint > Members tab. That said, what causes someone to be added to the Sprint > Members tab?

The following are the ways users can be added to the Sprint > Members tab. As a result, all of the following methods will automatically add the user to the EI table [Sprint Team Member] list.

  • Added by the connector sync, if the person is part of a Story/Task/Defect that is associated to a Team, which is linked to a Sprint. In other words, when a user is assigned to a work item (tested with Story) in Jira that is in the sprint, the Jira connector sync will also add the same user to the synced Jira Align Sprint > Members tab. The Audit log of the Jira Align Sprint will show the "Allocation changed" for the user, similar to the below in this scenario:

  • By External System on 6/25/2025 2:05:41 PM User xxxxxxx: Allocation changed from 0% to 100% Defect Allocation changed from 0% to 100%
    • This requires the setting "Assign Jira users to Jira Align teams when associated with stories and defects"

    • Please refer to the article: Assign Jira users to Jira Align teams when associated with stories and defects

      • "Assign Jira users to Jira Align teams when associated with stories and defects. Select Yes to allow Jira to check which issues the users are associated with and automatically add users to the team to which these issues belong. This setting will also automatically set team member allocations. When a Jira team member is assigned to multiple team sprints associated with the same sync date (anchor sprint), their sprint allocation will automatically be updated to be equal across those sprints, so that they add up to a total of 100% allocation".

  • Added manually via UI, by going to the Jira Align Sprint > Members tab and adding a user there manually

  • Added manually via UI, by using the "Copy all members from this team into this sprint" functionality in the Sprint > Members tab

Also, users are not removed from sprints automatically, no matter the action taken. The only way to remove them from the Sprint is to do so manually.

When manually removing the user in the Sprint > Members tab, the user will be removed from the EI table current_dw.[Sprint Team Member] list as well.
