Solution

By the definition in our help article , Product room (Jira Align labs) should show the stories that meet the following parameter

Stories for Active Sprints are the stories being delivered in ongoing sprints. This shows all stories for all sprints that are currently in progress for the selected product. You can view stories’ state, name, and related team. Click the gear icon to select any other future sprints.

However, there are some settings that need to be applied for this to work, and they are not very intuitive

Stories for Active Sprints

For a Story to show in this section:

  1. A Program Increment (PI) must be assigned to a Product, in the PI Details > Program, Products, and Regions (tab)

  2. The Sprint must be associated with the PI, in the Sprint Details

  3. The Story must be associated with the Sprint, in the Story Details

  4. There cannot be a mismatch between the Sprint set in the Story and the Sprint set in the parent feature of the story - which causes the error in the Story details that is shown below:

    (Auto-migrated image: description temporarily unavailable)
  5. The Sprint needs to be active (so not in a State of Not Started or Completed)

  6. The Sprint needs to be current (against today's date)

⚠️ When determining the current sprints, it is the date of the Sprint Anchor (sometimes seen as the Sync Date), not the dates of the Sprint itself, that is matched to today's date

⚠️ Active Sprints that have older older dates in their Sprint Anchors won't appear as a selection.

ℹ️ Sprints with future dates (that have stories) can have their stories displayed using the gear icon at the right-hand-end of the Stories for Active Sprints section title

In the below example, the only active sprint for the current date (which was 27th March 2024) was linked to an Anchor Sprint (Sync Date) that ended on 26th March even thought the Finish Date of the Sprint was 28th March. Three stories were linked with this sprint but as shown, none of the three were displayed in the Stories with Active Sprints box

Adjusting the Anchor Sprint date, in the PI Details > Sync Sprints (tab), so that todays's date (27th March) falls inside the date of the Sprint Anchor shows the expected list the stories in the active sprint as shown in the example images below:

ℹ️ Using the the current date as the determining factor was confirmed by the Jira Align Product Management Team as being correct

ℹ️ A bug ticket was originally created against the use of the Anchor Sprint Dates instead of the Sprint Dates. This ticket was closed with status ‘Won't fix’ - therefore it is not being considered as a bug and Atlassian are not planning to change this behaviour. To review the ticket please visit:

JIRAALIGN-3610 - Product Room: Stories for Active Sprints is displaying Sprints based on the Anchor Date instead of Start/Finish Date

⚠️ A new bug ticket has recently been created as the active sprint is being ignored if the current date exactly matches the end date of the sprint anchor, resulting in stories not being listed. For the latest updates on this issue please visit:

JIRAALIGN-6793 - Product Room: Stories for Active Sprints section omits the last date of the sprint anchor
