Summary

ℹ️ To read more about Predecessor and Successor/Work Item Links Access Create work item links

In Jira Align, you can use the ‘Links’ functionality to sequence work items. It is used to create a link from one theme, epic, capability, feature, or story to another one to define that the work item can't be started before the other one is finished.

After enabling the functionality of the Predecessor and Successor and the toggle described in the help article, the user has its view and access denied to the work item details

Environment

Jira Align

Diagnosis

Prerequisites based on Help Article Create work item links

  • The Enable Item Linkteam setting ** must be enabled for your Jira Align instance to use work item links

  • A user must have the Program > Manage > Work Item Linkssystem role toggle switched on for their role, in order to access the Links tab from the work item Details panels

  • You can only select work items you have access to

Cause

Even after the prerequisites are met, the user faces an Error page that shows "Need More Access", this is because it’s missing the permission that enables it to have full access to the work item details

Solution

Enable toggle ‘Story map’ following the steps below

  1. Access Settings / Administration > Roles and then select a role within its dropdown

  2. Expand the ‘Program’ section and enable the toggle ‘Story Map’
