Error: "The value ' ' for Defect issue type is invalid" seen in log when using the Jira Connector for Jira Align

Diagnosis

The following error is reported in the Jira change log under: Settings > Jira Settings > Manage Projects tab > View Logs button

"The value '' for Defect issue type is invalid"

Cause

This error can occur when the 'Defect issue type' Id field is empty but 'Allow defect sync from Jira Align to Jira' is set to "Bidirectional sync". Both fields are found in Jira Align underSettings > Jira Settings > Jira Setup tab

Solution

If Defects are intended to be synced from Jira Align to Jira:

  1. Under Settings > Jira Settings > Jira Setup

  2. Make sure the 'Defect issue type' field is populated with the Jira's defect equivalent issue type Id and Name

  3. Make sure'Allow defect sync from Jira Align to Jira' is set to "Bidirectional sync"

  4. Save changes

If Defects are not intended to be synced from Jira Align to Jira:

  1. Under Settings > Jira Settings > Jira Setup

  2. Make sure the 'Defect issue type' field is empty (both Id and Name)

  3. Make sure'Allow defect sync from Jira Align to Jira' is set to "Jira to Jira Align sync"

  4. Save changes
