Custom Field parameters and limitations for Jira Align work items

Summary

This article lists the parameters and limitations when creating custom fields in a work item's Details Panel Settings.

Solution

Each work item type supports a number of different custom fields. Below are the Jira Align limitations for each of the fields.

• Custom Text Input – Up to 2 fields

  • Can have up to 250 characters (an error toaster is presented if you try to save the item with more than this)

  • Accepted special characters ~`!@#$%ˆ&*()-+=?|[]{}.,éçã

• Custom Dropdown – Up to 3 fields

  • The title can have up to 50 characters

  • Options can have more than 50 characters, but only the first 50 are displayed on the UI

  • Can have more than 50 options

• Custom Text Area – 1 field allowed

  • Can have up to 4000 characters (an error toaster is presented if you try to save the item with more than this)

  • Accepted special characters ~`!@#$%ˆ&*()-+=?|[]{}.,éçã

• Custom Multi Dropdown – Up to 2 fields

  • The title can have up to 50 characters

  • Options can have more than 50 characters, but only the first 50 are displayed on the UI

  • Can have more than 50 options
