Changes to Program Board in Jira Align display for Features with cross program team Stories

Summary

Features with cross-program team stories may no longer appear on the Program board under the teams to which they belong. Instead, they appear only under the team of the primary program for that feature.

Diagnosis

For a Feature belonging to the program "Prog3" and having two child Stories from different cross-program teams ("AProg1T1" of the program "Prog1" and "AProg3T1" of the program of "Prog3"):

The ProgramBboard used to show the Feature under the two teams "AProg1T1" and "AProg3T1" when adding the program of the other story team in the 'extra config':

Since version 10.131.3, the Feature may only show under the team "AProg3T" belonging to the feature's primary program ("Prog3") in the above case:

Cause

The Feature has cross-program stories but on the other hand, is not configured to use multiple programs

Solution

  1. Enable the Approach field for features if it is not already done

    This can be done by going to the Jira Align Administration > SETTINGS > Details Panels Settings > <PortfolioNAme> > Work Item > Feature :

  2. Set the Approach field to use the Multi-Program Feature option and select all the additional program(s) the child story(ies) belong(s) to.

  3. Once the additional program(s) have been added and after reading the Program board, the feature will be displayed under all the teams of its child stories.
