Summary

A Jira Align user sees the work items' process step has been set to either blank or back to the default state, 'select one' in the details panel.

Diagnosis

The Epic's audit log shows that previously, a user assigned value to the Epic's process step.

In the Atlassian Analytics / Enterprise Insights schema, the user can see the assigned value in current_dw.[Epic].[Developmental Step].

Cause

This behavior is due to the removal and readdition of a program to the process flow, as demonstrated in the following steps:

  1. Create a Process Flow with 3 Process Steps, for example: Start, In Progress, Finish

  2. Assign Program A and Program B to the Process Flow

  3. Create an Epic in Program A and set the Process Step to 'Finish'

  4. Remove Program A from the Process Flow

  5. Update the Epic's description

  6. Re-add Program A to the Process Flow

  7. Observe that the Epic's Audit log has shown that the process step was changed to 'Finish,' but in the details panel, the process step is blank (or set to 'select one')

Solution

The user needs to modify the Epic's process step from the details panel again.
