Share focus areas
Use the Share window in Focus to send people a link to your focus area. This is a great way to invite your team to collaborate or to distribute information to large groups of people.
Share by email
Using the Share button to share content with specific people, user groups, or email addresses will send an email notification to the recipients that contains a link to the focus area.
Recipients will also receive a notification in the notification bell.
To share a focus area by email:
Open the focus area.
Select the Share button in the top right.
Start typing the name of a person or group to see a list of suggestions, then select the right ones from the list. Repeat this step to add multiple recipients.
If applicable, choose whether they should be able to edit. This will apply to everyone you’ve added in the search bar.
Select Share.
Share using a link
If you don’t want to use a notification to notify people about content, or if you want to include a link to the content item in an email you create yourself, you can copy the link to the content item.
Sharing the link alone doesn't grant access
Giving someone a link doesn’t automatically grant them access to the content. Check the content item’s access settings in Share to make sure people have the right access.
To share using a link:
You’ll find a link icon next to the Share button. Select it to copy the link. Alternatively, copy the content item’s URL from your browser window.
Paste the link into an email, Slack, or anywhere else you want to share it.
Manage access controls for shared users
When you share by email, you can grant those users permission to give them specific types of access using access controls.
To manage access controls
Open the focus area in Focus.
Select the Share button in the top right.
Select the arrow > icon on the right of the Specific access section.
A list of people with specific access appears. Select the dropdown to the right of a person’s name to change their object permission level or remove specific access to the focus area.
There are a few different types of access controls:
Owner
The owner you set when creating a focus area automatically reflects as the owner on the Share window. A focus area’s owner can perform any action on the focus area and set access controls on the focus area.
To change the owner shown in the Share window, you’ll need to change the Owner field on the focus area details.
Can edit
People with the Can edit access control can view and make changes to focus area details. They can also add other editors to the focus area.
