Create and manage a view

A view is a way to group focus areas that cut across the existing relationships focus areas have with one another. Views can be used to follow a theme that runs across the business, like accessibility or compliance.

Anyone can create a view, and all views are available for anyone to see and edit. Once created, you can take the following actions:

  • Edit - as your needs change, you can add more focus areas to a view and remove the ones that no longer make sense.

  • Star - marks the view as something important that you want to easily get to later from the Starred menu in the left navigation.

  • Copy - rather than starting from nothing when creating a new view, you can copy an existing one and make a few modifications.

  • Export - when you need to make bulk changes to focus areas, use a view to cherry-pick them. Once the spreadsheet is downloaded, make the change to the existing areas. If you aren’t a product admin, you’ll need to contact yours as importing data is something only an admin can do.

  • Delete - if a view is no longer needed, you can delete it. Deleting a view doesn’t impact the focus areas that were included in it.

 

To create a view

  1. Select Focus areas from the left navigation.

  2. Select the Views tab.

  3. Select Create view.

  4. Enter a name for the view.

  5. Edit the owner if you want someone else to own it.

  6. Select Create. The newly created view details page appears.

  7. Select Add focus areas. The Add focus area side panel appears.

  8. Search for and select the focus areas you want to see in the view. The number next to a focus area indicates the number of sub-focus areas below that one.

  9. Select Add.

 

To edit a view

  1. Select Focus areas from the left navigation.

  2. Select the Views tab.

  3. Find the view you want to edit and select it to view its details.

  4. Select Add to add more focus areas.

  5. Select the (More actions) menu and select Remove from view to exclude the focus area.

 

To star a view

  1. Select Focus areas from the left navigation.

  2. Select the Views tab.

  3. Find the view you want to star and select the star icon on its row. You can also star using the (More actions) menu in the views table or from the (More actions) menu when viewing the details of the view.

 

To copy a view

  1. Select Focus areas from the left navigation.

  2. Select the Views tab.

  3. Find the view you want to copy and select the (More actions) menu in the views table or from the (More actions) menu when viewing the details of the view.

 

To export a view

  1. Select Focus areas from the left navigation.

  2. Select the Views tab.

  3. Find the view you want to export and select the (More actions) menu in the views table or from the (More actions) menu when viewing the details of the view.

  4. Go to your downloads after the download completes.

To delete a view

  1. Select Focus areas from the left navigation.

  2. Select the Views tab.

  3. Find the view you want to delete and select it to view its details.

  4. Select the ••• (More actions) menu at the top right.

  5. Select Delete. A confirmation message appears.

  6. Select Delete to confirm the deletion.
