Go to next element causes browser to hang in Crucible

Symptoms

Reproducible with the latest stable versions of IE, FF, Safari, and Chrome browsers, the browser hangs (CPU usage also noticeably increases) when the "Next Element" button at the top of a review is clicked or the keyboard shortcut '.' is used. This has been observed only with reviews that have a single file attached. After some time the "slow script" dialog is displayed (see attachment below).

Attaching a dummy file (an empty file) to the review will prevent the browser from hanging.
