Do my Fe/Cru licenses need to match my JIRA user tier?

Platform Notice: Data Center Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the Data Center platform.

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Data Center KBs for non-Data-Center-specific features may also work for Server versions of the product, however they have not been tested. Support for Server* products ended on February 15th 2024. If you are running a Server product, you can visit the Atlassian Server end of support announcement to review your migration options.

*Except Fisheye and Crucible

Your Fisheye and Crucible (Fe/Cru) user tiers do not need to match your JIRA licensing tier in order to integrate the products. Only users who are given permission, through either the JIRA user management or internal Fe/Cru user management, will count against your Fe/Cru licenses.

If you plan to use JIRA for user management, then you'll have the ability to create a group within JIRA to contain all of your Fe/Cru users and give only those users the right to log into Fe/Cru. I suggest reviewing Connecting to JIRA for user management for more information.
