Nested users not appearing in Atlassian applications linked to Crowd

Symptoms

  • You have Crowd connected to a user directory that has Nested Groups.

  • You have Atlassian applications (JIRA, Confluence, etc) that are connected to Crowd.

  • In the Atlassian application, the top group appears but nested groups do not appear.

Cause

One of the following is not configured:

  • "Use Nested Groups" in the Crowd directory configuration

  • "Enable Nested Groups" in the User Directory configuration of the following Atlassian applications

    • JIRA

    • Confluence

    • Stash
