How do I configure Crowd to use Gmail as the mail server?

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Remember to generate and use an application specific password if Google's two-factor authentication is enabled.

To configure Crowd to use Gmail as the mail server.

Solution

  1. Go to Admin > Mail Configuration;

  2. Fill out your mail account details;

  3. Enter smtp.gmail.com for the SMTP host and 465 for the port, and ensure you tick Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL);

  4. Click Update.
