Unable to edit pages while running Confluence behind Kemp Load Balancer

Summary

Problem

In Confluence 6.x, it is not possible to edit pages. Reviewing the browser console or a HAR file, we can see WebSocket issues.

Diagnosis

Environment

  • Confluence 6.x

  • Kemp Load Balancer with firmware version below 7.2.37.1

  • Firefox web browser

Cause

There is a known issue (PD-8097) with Kemp Load Balancer regarding handling WebSockets requests in firmware versions previous to 7.2.37.1, as we can see on the page below:

Resolution

Upgrade Kemp Load Balancer firmware to version 7.2.37.1 or above.
