The sidebar navigation is blank when using Documentation Theme in Confluence

Problem
When viewing a page in Confluence with the Documentation Theme, the navigation sidebar exists but is blank.
No errors appear in the atlassian-confluence.log
Cause
The option to show the Page Tree is not enabled.
Resolution
Enable the Page Tree option:
Go to Confluence administration
Go to Themes
Under Documentation Theme click Configure theme
Click the checkbox next to Page Tree
Save
