The Include macro cannot render the included page

Platform Notice: Cloud Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.

Summary

When accessing pages, all of its content or some parts display the following message:

(Auto-migrated image: description temporarily unavailable)

Diagnosis

  • When accessing the page where this is happening, tap the ellipsis button at the top-right > Advanced details > View storage format. There, check to see if a macro called "Include" is displayed where the error is happening. For example:

    1 ac:structured-macro ac:name="include"
  • As a user not facing this issue, use the storage format (with the instructions above) in order to find the page and name from the Include and access it:

    1 ri:page ri:content-title="<name of the page>"

    • After accessing the page, check its restrictions in order to see if the user reproducing the issue has access to it.

Cause

There is a restricted page being retrieved via the Include page macro. In this case, the macro states that "the included page could not be found" because the restrictions are avoiding it to be fetched. This can be tied to restrictions applied to the page or a parent page, causing it to be inherited by the child one(s).

Solution

Add the user (or its groups) to the restrictions of the page (or the parent) where it is coming from:

  1. Type a user's name or a group into the search bar. (You can add multiple people and groups to the search bar.)

  2. Select Can edit or Can view.

  3. Select Add to add them to the list with the selected view or edit permission.

  4. Select Apply to save the changes.
