Sidebar and sidebar icon does not appear after an upgrade

Problem

After upgrade Confluence to last version, "sidebar" is not displayed, and the sidebar controller icon that should appear next to the search button is not displayed.

Cause

The issue is caused by the plugin mentioned above is interfering with Confluence.

Solution

Resolution

  1. Update the plugin to the newest version or

  2. Uninstall the plugin

Should that does not fix the issue, 

try

Enable Plugin Safe Mode

and see if the issue persists. This is because there might be other third party plugin that are causing interference to Confluence's core plugins, and thus causing this issue
