Problem

When making a REST call to Confluence the console gives the error

1 {"statusCode":413,"message":"Request too large. Requests for this resource can be at most 5242880 bytes"}

Cause

There is a hard coded limit of 5242880 bytes (5 *1024 *1024) for the maximum data payload when making a REST call to Confluence.

Resolution

See Configuring System Properties and set atlassian.rest.request.maxsize to a value larger than your content size in bytes, then restart Confluence.

1 -Datlassian.rest.request.maxsize=<SIZE-IN-BYTES>
