Symptoms

Various problems post-upgrade:

  1. Create dialog does not load

  2. Cannot upgrade plugins

  3. Problems with tasks

Cause

This is caused by incorrect database configuration in MySQL.

Resolution

  1. Restore your pre-upgrade backups

  2. Go through the entire Database Setup For MySQL document and ensure that your database is configured exactly as according to the document.

    Two items to pay special attention to are:

    1. NO_AUTO_VALUE_ON_ZERO - this must be removed from my.ini/my.cnf

    2. max_allowed_packet must be set to a higher value than the default

  3. Start the upgrade process again
