Odd Email Notification Behaviors Caused by Descendent Notifications Add-On

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Symptoms
One or more of the symptoms below is observed:
Users receive duplicate email notifications
Users receive notifications for pages that they are not following
Email subjects do not match content/page title
Cause
These behavior can be caused by the Descendent Notification Add-On and is a known issue.
Resolution
Disable this add-on.
ℹ️Descendent Notification Add-Onv3.0.2 (the latest version available) was last made compatible with Confluence 4.3.7. If you have this add-on enabled in Confluence 5.x, please disable it.
ℹ️Adaptavist commercialized Descendent Notifications add-on is compatible with Confluence 5.1.x and was reported not to have the same problem. Please contact Adaptavist for more info.
