Missing buttons in top navigation bar after upgrading Confluence

Problem
The buttons on the Confluence top navigation bar are missing after upgrading the server.

Diagnosis
Check that there's enough heap memory allocation by configuring the system properties
Cause
Confluence is running on an incompatible Apache Tomcat server.
Solution
Resolution
Switch to a compatible version of Apache Tomcat (see the supported platforms document for your version of Confluence).
