Problem

The following markup is being defined in a page, page A:

1 [Tésté]

Where "Tésté" is a valid and existing page in Confluence. Saving page A above render the link in red. It indicates that the page is not defined. The encoding for the environment is correct.

Cause

There is an issue which is related to PostgreSQL handling non-ASCII lower case characters.

Workaround

Workarounds are provided in Configuring Database Character Encoding.

Resolution

Update the initdb command:

1 initdb -E UTF-8 --locale <your locale>.UTF8 /var/lib/pgsql/data
