How to raise the image size limit within Confluence to allow larger images in Word imports

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Data Center KBs for non-Data-Center-specific features may also work for Server versions of the product, however they have not been tested. Support for Server* products ended on February 15th 2024. Summary

Sometimes a user tries to import a Word document and receives the following error:

"Could not import document. The document contains an image size of <image_size x <image_size>, which exceeds the maximum size of <image_size x <image_size>. Reduce the size of the image or contact your administrator to raise the size limit"

Solution

Raise the size limit as follows:

  1. Go to Confluence Admin>Office Connector

  2. Type the new image size into the fields under Importing from Word

  3. Click Submit at the bottom of the page to save the changes
