Error Sending HipChat Notification

Summary

Problem

Notification is not received in self-hosted HipChat Server room when the following operations are performed:

  • Page is created.

  • Page is edited.

  • Blog post is created.

Diagnosis

Diagnostic Steps

  1. Clear Confluence plugins cache.

  2. Restart HipChat Server.

  3. Delete and recreate the HipChat integration link.

Cause

HipChat Server is probably returning 500 status error to Confluence as HipChat Server beta build may not fully support HipChat Integration with Confluence properly.

Solution

Resolution

  1. Update Confluence HipChat Plugin to the latest version.

  2. Shutdown HipChat Server.

  3. Upgrade HipChat Server to the latest build version.

  4. Restart HipChat Server.

  5. Delete and recreate HipChat Integration link via Confluence Administration Console.
