Confluence HipChat integration
We recommend utilizing Atlassian HipChat for instant messaging within your team - HipChat allows teams the ability to communicate via one on one or via group oriented chatrooms. Using the HipChat for Confluence plugin enables Confluence space admins to configure a link between a particular Confluence Space and a HipChat room – any new blog created in the space will create a HipChat room notification, alerting users in the chatroom to noteworthy new content or announcements in the wiki. As both Confluence spaces and HipChat rooms typically map to corresponding teams or major projects, it's a great way to stay atop any content or documentation related to the team/project, alongside your real-time chat conversations.
Other options
There is an existing plugin available for integration between Confluence and Spartez MeetingRoom, a third-party group chat server, on our Plugin Exchange. Confluence also comes bundled with an IM Presence macro, which displays whether a Confluence user is logged in with AIM, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, and other chat clients.
Should you wish to develop further integration between Confluence and third-party chat tools, you might find our developer documentation and developer forums helpful. We also have an excellent network of experts who specialize in custom development and integration should you need additional assistance.
