Confluence search does not work for period separated values

Problem

Searching for text with dot does not return any result. For example, a text like below:

1 Jeremy.bought.Tim.a.flower

If we search for Jeremy or any of the word in the text separately, the text above will not be returned.

The text can only be found if the whole word is searched as "Jeremy.bought.Tim.a.flower" without the quotes.

Cause

Confluence will remove '.' from search due to the text tokenization. More explanation available Text Tokenisation and Filtering. There is a feature request at CONF-14910 to change this functionality.

Workaround

If you need to find a content, you can use '*' or '?' to get more result. For example:

1 2 Jeremy* Jeremy*flower
