Problem

While watching an embedded video (attachment) via the multimedia macro, Confluence performs slowly and becomes unresponsive. Although the video is locally stored attachments, it may take more than a minute to load a small video file. However, once the video is stopped streaming, Confluence will return to normal operation.

Diagnosis

Environment

  • Happens in all browsers.

  • Confluence 6.0 or above.

Diagnostic Steps

  • A HAR file shows exceptionally long load time for the video.

  • There may be no related error in the logs.

  • Can't replicate the problem while Confluence is on safe mode.

  • Happens to a blank page with one small sized video as well.
