Can I install Confluence from Jira Software UI?

Platform Notice: Data Center Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the Data Center platform.

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Data Center KBs for non-Data-Center-specific features may also work for Server versions of the product, however they have not been tested. Support for Server* products ended on February 15th 2024. Solution

If you already have Jira Software installed and you would like to install Confluence as well, you can't install Confluence by uploading the Confluence installer to the Jira UI.

Confluence is a completely different standalone application/software from Jira. Unlike Jira Service Desk, which is an extension of the Jira Software, Confluence cannot be installed automatically from the Jira UI.

The Confluence application:

  1. Will be a separate instance from Jira.

  2. Will have its own Tomcat and

  3. Will have its own Installation folders and Home folders in the file system.

  4. Will need its own separate database

  5. Will not be a part of Jira, however it can be integrated through an Application Link
