HTTP 500 error when navigating to a file

Problem

When navigating to a specific file Bitbucket Server throws a 500 error and the following appears in the atlassian-bitbucket.log:

Cause

This is likely caused by an unsupported third-party add-on. Specifically, it has been observed that the ReadMe Parser plugin may cause this when anonymously accessing a file.

Resolution

  • Disable the unsupported third-party add-on
