Problem

A user creates a test repo, with public key and SSH enabled, but

1 2 3 $ git clone git@192.168.99.100:7999:repo1 Cloning into 'repo1'... git@192.168.99.100's password:

A password authentication is required and cloning is not possible.

Cause

The address the user is trying to clone is different to what the application expects.

As written on Enabling SSH access to Git repositories in Bitbucket Server, the SSH URL should be similar to:

1 ssh://git@<SSH_BASE_URL>/<projectname>/<reponame>.git

Resolution

The correct SSH URL that you should be using for a git clone operation should be available through the Bitbucket server UI when you browse through the repo, click on ... and then Clone.

If you are doing that correctly, please review Set up SSH for Git.
