Bitbucket won't start with Error: Could not find or load main class ssl

Problem

Bitbucket won't start with the following error:

1 Error: Could not find or load main class ssl

Cause

Java arguments are not be supported by your JVM.

1 JAVA_OPTS="-Dcom.sun.jndi.ldap.connect.pool.protocol='plain ssl' -Dcom.sun.jndi.ldap.connect.pool.authentication='none simple DIGEST-MD5'"

Resolution

Remove the offending Java arguments and restart Bitbucket Server.
