How to renew authentication token for the Bitbucket Cloud Migration Assistant app (BCMA)

Platform Notice: Data Center Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the Data Center platform.

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Data Center KBs for non-Data-Center-specific features may also work for Server versions of the product, however they have not been tested. Support for Server* products ended on February 15th 2024. Summary

When trying to run the Bitbucket Cloud Migration Assistant (BCMA) to migrate from Bitbucket Data Center to Bitbucket Cloud, the migration plan fails and you need to renew the authentication token so the on-premise application can connect to the Cloud workspace. 

Environment

This message applies to Bitbucket Data Center.

Solution

  1. Open the Bitbucket Cloud Migration Assistant. Go to Settings > Migrate to Cloud. Alternatively, navigate to<BITBUCKET_BASE_URL>/plugins/servlet/migrate#/monitor

  2. ClickCreate new migration

  3. ClickConnect to cloud

  4. ClickChoose new cloud destination

  5. ClickContinue

  6. Enter your current Bitbucket base URL into "Migrate from"

  7. Select your destination workspace in "Migrate to"

  8. Check "Allow Atlassian to access migrations data"

  9. ClickConfirm

  10. Create a new migration plan
