"An account with that name already exists" error in Bitbucket Cloud

Summary
When you try to change the username of your Bitbucket Cloud account from the Personal Bitbucket settings, you get the error:
"An account with that name already exists."
Solution
Usernames in Bitbucket Cloud need to be unique among other existing users on the platform (this includes users from different workspaces) and also among existing workspace IDs. The error occurs when the new username you enter is already in use either by a different user or as a workspace ID.
You will need to enter a different username and select Change, until the specified error no longer occurs.
